Bradford Marine Wins 2015 Yachty National Invitational Golf Tournament
On March 8, 2015 National Marine Suppliers hosted their annual Yachty National Invitational Golf Tournament, to benefit the Marine Industry Cares Foundation. As usual, Bradford Marine sponsored a hole to show support. This year the event took place at Hillcrest Golf and Country Club.
The event started with breakfast and a putting contest. The winner would get to drive a brand new Corvette for the weekend. Various contests throughout the day included; closest to the pin, longest drive, fastest swing and more.
Each hole provided different food, drinks, games and even obstacles to take your attention away from the round. At the tee box, sponsors were ready to humiliate you in order to get an extra $20 for a good cause. For example, at one hole, fireworks went off and a water cannon soaked you in hopes that you didn’t make the drive over the water. If that happens you have to pay $20 to get your pants back. However, there was an event that actually took a stroke off your game. For $20 you could use a cannon to launch your ball over 300 yards and onto the green. This was immensely fun, and did solidify an eagle for most teams.
The Bradford Marine team started on the 17th hole, the one right before the dreaded 18th hole, which puts the green at a dogleg left on an island. There was a peanut gallery to distract you, but out of our four players, one was able to get it across. By sinking 30 foot putts and staying consistent almost the entire round, Bradford Marine’s team won the first place trophy for the tournament. This is the second time in three years Bradford Marine has come in first place. Congratulations to the Bradford Marine team and a special thanks goes out to National Marine Suppliers staff who put on such a well organized, entertaining and successful event to raise money. We will see you next year on the course.
