BRADFORD MARINE RENOVATIONS ROLLING OUT
After more than half a century in business in South Florida, Bradford Marine has earned a loyal customer base. In the hands of new ownership since January, it’s about to receive multi-phase updates. These will improve the customer experience whether seeking dockage, refit, or brokerage services. Ultimately, the Bradford Marine renovations will “revitalize this iconic facility, and continue to build on its esteemed legacy.”
So says John Kelly, chief executive officer of Fort Lauderdale Yacht Harbor, the owner of the shipyard. “As lifelong boaters, we understand the needs and challenges of yacht owners, captains, and crew,” he adds.
The first phase of the Bradford Marine renovations will include cosmetic and service upgrades, enhanced security, and the creation of a crew space. For cosmetic upgrades, for example, expect to see refurbished buildings, new landscaping, and new signage to better direct you to where you need to go. On a related subject, additional parking is coming. As for security, security personnel will man a gated entrance, plus be on site around the clock. Further upgrades will improve the dockside electrical service plus internet. And, finally, the Bradford Marine renovations will benefit crew even more by giving them a dedicated gym.
Besides the physical transformation, the shipyard is additionally enhancing its social programs. Captains and crew can look forward to monthly Third Thursday happy hours. They can enjoy First Friday breakfast gatherings each month, too.
Bradford Marine’s Floridian facilities date back to 1966. Situated on the New River, it has a marina as well as a yacht-brokerage division, along with megayacht service and repair. Yachts to 250 tons can be hauled out, while yachts to 180 feet (55 meters) can have covered dockage. The company also has a facility in the Bahamas, which accommodates even bigger boats. It dates to 1997, in Freeport. Megayachts to 500 feet (152.4 meters) can head there. A 1,200-ton drydock as well as a 150-ton TraveLift bolster its services.
