NEWS AND YACHTING EVENTS
The Story of M/Y Reef Chief
In 1991, a 123’ Lloyds ship arrived in Fort Lauderdale, Florida all the way from Brisbane, Australia. The ship, fondly known as Reef Chief, had just completed her first journey to Bradford Marine and, unbeknownst to them, began a long-term relationship and friendship.
Over the years, Reef Chief has been serviced at Bradford from standard maintenance, to numerous paint jobs to refits, and she and her crew have become familiar faces in the yard.
When the owners passed the vessel on to their son, Reef Chief was upgraded to a 161’ Trinity and continued to take trips all over the globe. Most recently returning from a three-year trip from Europe, Bradford Marine is very happy to see her return to the place the crew consider “home”.
According to Captain Mike Ford, who has worked with the Dickie’s family for many years, “It’s good craftsmanship. To me, it’s family. I walk around and everyone says hi to you…people listen and work together to get the job done.”
It’s a mutual feeling for us here at Bradford Marine and we hope it stays that way! Thank you for your continued loyalty and friendship, Reef Chief. We look forward too many more years to come!
